WHEN THE TAILGATE DROPS, THE BULL SHIRT STOPS!

need help! main tracka is barking track.. any suggestions?

I was finnaly was able to go hunting the otherday and i noticed that my main tracker was starting to bark track. Shes a pure catahoula gyp from a good blood line and normally doesnt bark track.. when she goes she is normally really quiet and only barks when she bays up or at least attempts to stop a hog from running. On the last hunt, i only noticed her barking track some of the time however she coulda been doing it while outta gps range. The first pig she hit she was silent up untill she was face to face with em in the bushes, then she bayed up and the other dogs answered like they should and caught em. The second pig she hit she was silent till she hit the track and found the pig and attempted to bay up. the pig ran and she chased.. this is where i noticed she started barking track... i could hear them running in the bushes and hear her barking, then out pops this good size sow and it runs accross the trail in to the bushes, all while my coon is barking while running and trying to play catch up like 5-7 secs behind... dogs ended up not getting it. the 3 pig she hit she did the same thing... silent up untill she tried to bay up and then the pig ran and she started barking track again.... the other dogs couldnt keep up with her barking all over the place and the buggah escaped and she followed and ended up going outta range... i could hear her barking off in the the valley but it was so thick we decided to ditch that one and try again further up the trail. the next one she bayed and the pig ran for a bit but this time she didnt bark track and only barked when bayed up and the other dogs answered and they got em..  This kept going on for the rest of the hunt randomly barking track and then not barking track....

I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas as to how to get her to stop doing this as its getting anoying to me... shes almost a year and a half and is an ace tracker and has found choke pigs. Im wondering if she is just excited to be out hunting since shes been all bored cruising at home alone while im at work lately since i havent been able to hunt her as much as i should kuz ive been busy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Mahalo!

Howsit bradah? I've dealt with the same problem recently and  I've learned that a dog overcoming this bad habit depends completely on the dog. If they break it, then they break it. Most times what ever you do to try and  break that habit won't work. All in all most times a dog won't break. Only some will. With that said the only thing that ever seemed to work for me was to let my dog action a pig before i took her hunting. It wasn't a cure. It just seemed to help. Let me know if you find something that works. I'll probably need that info one day!

You just have to keep pushing the dog as much as you can than she should get back in the grove in couple months

hey my braddah,i had couple dogs used to bark trail, and i broke all thier habits,i not saying going work for your dogs, but did for mine..all i did was take my dogs where was gaurentted to get action, and gaurenteed for catch pigs fast, like fenced in pastures and stuff, places where pigs cant really go any where, but still can hide.not to big areas...like where i was taking my dogs the game was so easy and pigs was so easy for find that the dogs never really need for look for the pigs, they just would jump out and the pigs was pretty much right there..never give them time for bark at trails...after about 3 weeks my dogs never did bark trail again..try that,i mean it cant make anything more worse than it is...again though it might not work for you,but it did for me..good luck bro and safe hunting

I had that problem and that fucken sucks I jus got RID of om but that's jus me let me know if went work out for u

right on for the suggestions! imma try take her over to my friends pen and throw her in with a big buggah... and then i was thinking about taking her with my friends ace trackas and keeping her on one leash till they all bayed up and then letting her go to let her find em and bay up... hopefully this works... shes got a meaaaan nose and would love to see this pup become an ace!

Hawzit chief, i had that problem a few months ago. Long time huntaz told me age em even tho my dog was already 13 months. Rested em for about a month and since started taking em again never did it. Uncle told me the pup was jus getting excited.... Last couple months been getting lucky and not hitting full on burnahz so he not really getting left behind for yap. He been finding and been working out good. Never take em easy kind places or fenced off areas but in a way same situation. Getting the action in and since not burnahz he not in the situation to start yapping. Most guys get rid of em but at one young age finding and stopping pigs, putting in a lil more work then u would like to doesnt hurt. Hope dog works out and breaks the habbit for u. Aloha

I heard there was something u can buy like a shock collar that give a slight shock that stops the dog from barking when you dont want him/her to. ( never tried it my self but heard it works on dogs that YAP or run and bark)   alohas Nelson Kennles............
