WHEN THE TAILGATE DROPS, THE BULL SHIRT STOPS!

Just curious, if you could put a dollar value on it, what would you pay for the complete dog that fits your style of hunting? What would you pay to have a dog like the best one you ever had?
Something to disguss that I'm sure I'm not the only one curious about.

Wassup Donny B.  I get a couple of help dogs if you like try um out.  One of um is one whippet mix around 5-6 years old.  Seen plenty pigs, bark and attack ass and balls.  The other one will be 2 in august, seen about 10 pigs and grabbed all of um from 4 months old.  I'll give um to you if you getting hard time.  Da older dog will track short range if da pigs around.  Lemme know I live in Keaau 960-1726 Mark

I agree Isaac, good analogy. "right tool" puts things in prospective and makes 100% sense!

We can look at it like this too! My g/f's ride needed new rotors and I was thinking "Ah easy!" well after stripping the retaining screws, Drilling um out, Pounding um with a hammer, Cursing at it, pounding um with another hammer and scraping my knuckles across the driveway a few times I gave up and threw in the towel! 2 weeks later my uncle stops by gets a good laugh and says "I get the right tool, I'll be back tommorow" Let me tell you this "right tool" had the rotors falling off the car 1 speed and in my mind is priceless compared to the frustration & ego deflating I took! Hahaha! In my opinion the tool is a simple 1 but before I volunteer myself again I will buy 1 NO MATTER THE PRICE! What I saying is the right tool for any job is worth what the buyer is willing to spend, When you see that dog hit the ground "Knowing the rules" and then producing pork like he's the "right tool" Let the negotiations begin!

no matter how u look at it raising dogs is an expensive venture and you arent always gonna get your moneys worth. Weather you buy dogs or raise many to get that one you want. We all do it for the love of it! I dont wanna upset any one by sayin this but the hunter is the one that trained the dog not the guy who bought it and used it to catch some pork. I would say that special dog would be worth what ever is asked for it cause that dog most likely wouldnt be for sale!

donny b....your right their is so much money that people spend for their passion, entertainment, enjoyment, etc. as for me, training pups always feels good, esp when you see the continuous progress each time you hunt! and training your own dogs is the best cuz you know them and they know you! but sometimes its definitely hard and gets to you bringin you down when it doesnt go as hoped! but back to your question, if money wasnt a issue, i could see myself spending up to 3k for a good dog, (ppl always losing more in vegas :) ) not saying that i would, but in the position you put the question...i would definitely wanna get to know the dog a lil, by hunting with it, taking it home, and hunting it alone, and have a trial period to see how the dog works for me and not its previous owner! the dog would have to be in its younger n still prime age (not slowing down, and possibly get better), would definitely be a barking dog that is smart, knows how to stop, and knows when to put pressure n when to back up to keep the pig still! i bought a horse couple yrs back for $4500 which tends to only eat grass right now, and the numbers can go way beyond that! to me its just the chance your willing to take, anything could happen at any moment no matter what you do! hogs and dogs is def my passion, think about it every sec every min every hr. it definitely helps if you know the dog or of it! everyone has different opinions and views, but dog food, gas, time in the dog to make it what it is, all equals to money! if i had a good dog to sale, more then asking for alot of money, i probably would more so wanna sell it to someone that would just straight up, hunt the dog and not let it sit on a chain, but most of all take care the dog!
